Id like to think the weather had a part in today's results?
But at 230 today it hadn't started raining in Brighton so I cant
The 920 race was a bigger gamble then I first thought the weather was a deciding factor the price went out to 7.6 and then back in to 4.6 so a major fluctuation

Well yesterday was a disappointing result close but not close enough
It been a tricky weekend I'm seriously considering not laying at the weekend as I've said before its always tricky laying on Saturday and Sunday.
I now think its proved it!
After going back to the rules this week i.e trying to protect my profits the weekends results show i could have lost a lot more
I end this week on a respectable £384.92 up/in profit
Remember I'm try to reach £1000 a month a target that is possible as shown in the results.

To try and get back into profit for the month I'm undertaking the most aggressive laying strategy yet a £200 profit per day

As Ive said earler in the week Ive been laying short price favouates the idea being low odds lower losses if I do get the wrong result

It was great to get the favourite beat today
The 730 was very close to going on the blog but it didn't
Its been a tricky month trying to get the new rules on line and trying to work them out live in real time, learning as I go has been tough
As you may of gathered Ive been upping the anty some what with higher liability's and stakes by using low odds and laying favourites !
The first week of this month the new ideas worked very well with profits of £929.57
Great news I here you cry !
"Why not let us all get on board"
But the P&L to date from the start of the month to today its a different story
A loss for the month to date of £-454.71
As Ive said before I had high hopes for this month
At just over half way though the month I need to pull it round
On telling a friend my results "he said why didn't you stop at £1k ?"
My reply
"why does the pope wear a funny hat?"
OK not the most realistic statement but I had no proper answer
Learning in real time is hard
I'm going to come back to this blog at the end of the month and see whats happened

When laying small priced favourites its a mixed bag
The only good thing about it is that the liability's are lower but favourites do win !
I ha vent changed the rules yet,because Id rather be the ginne pig on my own
With laying £100 per lay low odds have to be better ?
Before when I was laying £50 per lay or £ 250 liability's when anything near 6.0 comes home the winner its very hard to get back in profit in a couple of days

Anybody who's been reading the blog over the last few weeks will be saying to themselves "only two lays today"
Yes I trying to break my info down into the best information I can give
On some days Ive put up more than five lays in a day
The law of averages are against me!
Any new comers may think its easier to pick a loser then a winner!
But anybody that lays professionally will no that to be a lie or at least a exaggeration
I'm happy with today performance
The only problem with only laying two horses is that to make a good profit you have to laying £50 upwards per lay to hit the kind of targets I'm hoping to reach
Should the long awaited new rules drop the lay limit to nothing over 3.9 ?

As It was a successful afternoon closing down at 230 a first for a Saturday with profit of £283.49
This week over all has been poor so next week I'm starting with positive metal attitude to push in to profit from the off
All liability's @ £250 regardless of the odds !
With a daily rolling bank of £1k I could be out in four lays !

All in all a bad way to start the week with a loss of £-74.34

Mondays results

I didn't reach my target of £150 I got to £98.32
Mainly because I greened out on"Jump Vet" after a 27% reduction on a non-runner I hoofed .
But " Jump Vet" still lost!
After yesterday I had to stick to the rules which are,
1)Always look for non-runners on the rules tab on the right hand side of the betfair screen
As big reductions will effect the out come
They are all listed in percentages
2)Always watch the market on your screen if the odds start tumbling down in front of your eyes after you've already layed it !

It doesn't always work but very handy

Well talk about coming down to earth with a bang
After last weeks success today I closed down with losses of £303.25
With "Valley of the moon" winning I took a large hit of my bank.
With only two lays today I had a go at winning some losses back will I never learn ?
Last week I made a effort to protect my profits starting with £50 lays with £250 liability's Trying to reach my £100 target and then reduce my liability's so I don't risk all of my profit
This worked well with the help of some good results
So now I'm back playing catch up tomorrows target is £150 with two new connection coming on board tomorrow have I got to many connections ?
Is GREED is the problem
Or is it to many lays per day reduces your chances of losing !(in my world winning)
What is the ideal number of lays per day ? before the law of probability takes over !
Or the fact that I'm in too much of a hurry to check the non-runners and the real time stats of a race

The major loss of the day was"Pistol Desbois" it was in the 4.5s
That hits profits hard the first lay of the day "Samuel Charles" was low at 2.5 when it won the hit on the bank wasn't to hard.
Bad luck ?
As I said earlier I think you can only put it down to bad luck a few times,this connection must have lost me three times as much as hes won me !
The last sentence answers my question stop using him !
The results for March are the worst so far £-814.17
It was always going to be difficult to get back in profit after a week of heavy losses.
I hoped I may of been able to get back to even but it wasn't to be, this is my first monthly loss I didn't like it.
When I talked about targets I think that is going to be the way forward in April.
You have to look at the figures they don't lie
1)Drop the bad connection
2)Stick to targets then close down
3)Watch the market and go with your instinct

OK I started to lay the seed with the start of today's blog " greed" have a target and stick to it !
On to many times the system has thrown up a number of lays per day sometimes more than six the law of averages shows that your on a losing wicket hoping to get the right result with more then four lays.
The information may be correct the system maybe be right BUT a big but can you take the risk because that what its all about "risk management"
So a target must be set per day £50 £ 75 £100 £ 200 anything !
Now the hard part "the walk away" close down for the day, tomorrows round the corner its not Las Vagas its Southwell on a wet Wednesday afternoon !!
It has to be the way forward including the four posted earlier today I hand another five lays for today,now human nature says that I will check the results but!!
I'm happy to walk away with £100-£150 per day ?
Eleanor and myself are locked in to this new attitude join us !

"Honours Dream" was around 6.0 which is always a worry as your liability's are high even with a protection bet.
The main problem with laying for me,is the fact that with one or two wrong results you can wipe away your profits and your bank!
Do I keep the lays under 4.0 and just go with second or third favorites as are high priced lays are coming home in second or third place anyway which is a little scary.

I hoofed the first and the last lays toady,the first because of a change in the market and its better not to Chase profit from the first trade.
The second because I went in hard with a £100 lay and didn't want to lose the days profit on the last trade and my bottle went !
So I backed it with £50 and lowered my liability's to half, but it lost so I still came out £ 50 up minus commission.

After Thursdays Nightmare the last few lays I did yesterday I added a "Protection bet"
I will explain after I'd laid the horse which I had done a hour before the off I then backed the same horse at a higher price then the lay.
This cut my liability's down by half and my profit !
One school of thought double your liability to half your losses
The name of this procedure "hoofing"
You can do it "in play"with a higher back price that could cancel out any losses.
Worth pondering over a few jars !

A bad start today with "Lady pilot" winning the race so a loss of £-238.49
On a good note all the other six lays all lost
So I ended the day with a profit of £49.47
The new "watch live"button on Betfair is great the only down side was watching "Lady pilot"
win the race !

Two losers winning, the first being the first lay of the day so not a good start!
With a large number of lays like we had today, a 100% strike rate would have been a right result but we didn't make it...
So I ended up in profit - £49.03 for the day
We all know it's a long game with true results only coming in month by month, not day by day
The targets have been smashed for Jan and Feb, so it's on the right track
I'm very excited about going to the Betfair seminar tomorrow

Time ran away from me yesterday and I couldnt get any lays up on the blog.
I had eight for the day but only found time to lay four on betfair two of which won so a
profit of £ 14.70
I went to Kempton last night the track and the lighting looked great,but on a cold wet and windy night a few more punters wouldnt of gone a miss !
The three lays I had at Kempton all lost .

Its easy to look at "lazy lays" as easy profit,when you look at your liabiltys "low" but high odds are high risk !
I'm going to start putting lays up before the off..

I didn't reach my target yesterday

So I end the week down

But on a positive note profit for the month £ 786.06

Yesterday I had six lays five good results and one bad one

Keeping with the £ 250 liability on each lay is hard

I think this is the way forward because on a low lay you can make more profit.

On a high lay its still £ 45-50 profit

If your willing to lose £ 250 on a high lay why not do it on a low lay ?

I'm also going to start each day with a £1k rolling bank taking the profit out at the end of each day

So lets see how I get on this week
