The major loss of the day was"Pistol Desbois" it was in the 4.5s
That hits profits hard the first lay of the day "Samuel Charles" was low at 2.5 when it won the hit on the bank wasn't to hard.
Bad luck ?
As I said earlier I think you can only put it down to bad luck a few times,this connection must have lost me three times as much as hes won me !
The last sentence answers my question stop using him !
The results for March are the worst so far £-814.17
It was always going to be difficult to get back in profit after a week of heavy losses.
I hoped I may of been able to get back to even but it wasn't to be, this is my first monthly loss I didn't like it.
When I talked about targets I think that is going to be the way forward in April.
You have to look at the figures they don't lie
1)Drop the bad connection
2)Stick to targets then close down
3)Watch the market and go with your instinct

"Samuel Charles" powered home and with a wrong result, we did have a 25% reduction with a non runner.I could of should of hoofed it but I am unwell !!
"Calbourg" The right result but was never under ten on betfair so would go on the account as a no bet

Well on my 100th post on the blog I should be popping the champagne,but I've been in bed for the last two days with a throat infection which has knocked me for six!!

OK I started to lay the seed with the start of today's blog " greed" have a target and stick to it !
On to many times the system has thrown up a number of lays per day sometimes more than six the law of averages shows that your on a losing wicket hoping to get the right result with more then four lays.
The information may be correct the system maybe be right BUT a big but can you take the risk because that what its all about "risk management"
So a target must be set per day £50 £ 75 £100 £ 200 anything !
Now the hard part "the walk away" close down for the day, tomorrows round the corner its not Las Vagas its Southwell on a wet Wednesday afternoon !!
It has to be the way forward including the four posted earlier today I hand another five lays for today,now human nature says that I will check the results but!!
I'm happy to walk away with £100-£150 per day ?
Eleanor and myself are locked in to this new attitude join us !

The last two where both over 10 which is my limit
But yesterday I made a school boy error and backed when I should of lay ed .
So from a nice profit of £ 146.00 I ended up £230.46 down for the day !
So a new stake plan a target for each day if reached STOP.

Both today's lays lost
A profit of £197.68
"Honours Dream" was around 6.0 which is always a worry as your liability's are high even with a protection bet.
The main problem with laying for me,is the fact that with one or two wrong results you can wipe away your profits and your bank!
Do I keep the lays under 4.0 and just go with second or third favorites as are high priced lays are coming home in second or third place anyway which is a little scary.
Answers please ?

Yesterdays losses of £456.72 make that look very difficult
I think some connections may have to be changed and also trading on each lay instead of just letting it run,this take more time and concentration but needs must.
Nothing yet today but Eleanor's connection in Ireland have flagged up some but nothing confirmed.

So a profit for the day of £245.32
I hoofed the first and the last lays toady,the first because of a change in the market and its better not to Chase profit from the first trade.
The second because I went in hard with a £100 lay and didn't want to lose the days profit on the last trade and my bottle went !
So I backed it with £50 and lowered my liability's to half, but it lost so I still came out £ 50 up minus commission.

After Thursdays Nightmare the last few lays I did yesterday I added a "Protection bet"
I will explain after I'd laid the horse which I had done a hour before the off I then backed the same horse at a higher price then the lay.
This cut my liability's down by half and my profit !
One school of thought double your liability to half your losses
The name of this procedure "hoofing"
You can do it "in play"with a higher back price that could cancel out any losses.
Worth pondering over a few jars !

The experiment has to be given a year ,at £ 12k a year being the target

Todays results

A bad start today with "Lady pilot" winning the race so a loss of £-238.49
On a good note all the other six lays all lost
So I ended the day with a profit of £49.47
The new "watch live"button on Betfair is great the only down side was watching "Lady pilot"
win the race !
Its still very hard to keep to my own rules especially when you start the day with a bad result
I'm going to try to keep to rules tomorrow which is going to be difficult because its going to be a busy day

It was all going so well maybe to well !
With eight lays in total yesterday and two wrong results at the end of the day.
Eleanor was in charge of the account yesterday so thanks for that.
He call me and asked me a question ?
He said " your £ 250 up do you want to continue or close down for the day"
Of course being Greedy I said "no carry on in for a penny in for a pound"
After that I lost £249 which should be a lesson learnt

Monday

With the weather the way it is, not a great deal of good laying opportunity's today
Eleanor came up with a late one that I couldn't get on the blog
4.10-Stratford-Northall lad which went off second favorite
It lost and gave us a profit of £83.11 for the day
So a good start to the week
With Cheltnham starting tomorrow its going to be a busy week
Will the weather give us a few surprise results ?
Going back to Saturday seven trades with one wrong result
Eleanor and other connections all marked "Another Genepi " up as a lay.
I didn't watch or listen to the race so I'm still not sure what happened I do know the price shortened before the off.
I was happy to end the day with a loss of only £-8.52 as I did hear that other traders got hit hard to the tune of £ 750.00

So this week ends with a profit of £323.88 not the £500 target but still a nice profit

Yesterday first not a great day with two lays coming in first !!
Top mark being the big shock went off at 10 on betfair and was as high as 15 at one point
With Brigde of Fennay not a shocker more of a 50/50 chance of going are way but it wasn't to be
That's why is called fishing not catching !

Results

Two losers winning, the first being the first lay of the day so not a good start!
With a large number of lays like we had today, a 100% strike rate would have been a right result but we didn't make it...
So I ended up in profit - £49.03 for the day
We all know it's a long game with true results only coming in month by month, not day by day
The targets have been smashed for Jan and Feb, so it's on the right track
I'm very excited about going to the Betfair seminar tomorrow
I'm still very interested in hearing more about hoofing' which I hope will be covered

Yesterday first..

Time ran away from me yesterday and I couldnt get any lays up on the blog.
I had eight for the day but only found time to lay four on betfair two of which won so a
profit of £ 14.70
I went to Kempton last night the track and the lighting looked great,but on a cold wet and windy night a few more punters wouldnt of gone a miss !
The three lays I had at Kempton all lost .
I had a good time
